If you’re searching for an Auckland beach photoshoot or a maternity photographer who captures relaxed, natural moments by the sea, this winter beach session with Jimmy, Saki and their two daughters is a beautiful example of what’s possible—even in the cooler months.
We met on a crisp winter’s evening at one of my favourite Auckland coastal spots. While winter isn’t the obvious choice for a beach session, it often delivers the most breathtaking golden light. Golden hour arrives earlier, which means young children don’t have to stay up late, and the beaches are calm and peaceful, we are often the only ones on the beach this time of year making it a perfect spot for a relaxed Auckland beach photoshoot.
Saki is expecting baby number three, and this session was a lovely combination of maternity portraits and natural family moments. The girls had the best time exploring rock pools and running barefoot along the shore. Their laughter, the salty breeze, and the soft winter light made the whole shoot feel effortless and full of joy.
We captured both candid moments and classic family portraits, all with a focus on connection and warmth. Saki looked radiant, snuggled up with her daughters while cradling her growing bump. These kinds of images—full of emotion and light—are what I love most about maternity photography.
If you’re thinking about booking a maternity session in Auckland, don’t overlook the charm of a winter beach. The light is beautiful, the atmosphere is calm, and it’s the perfect setting for celebrating this special chapter in your family’s story.
Maternity photoshoots are best held between 32-36 weeks so book nice and early to allow us the flexibility to reschedule if the weather isn’t quite right on your scheduled date.
