Ava & Sophia’s First Birthday Celebration – A Sweet Twin Cakesmash Photoshoot

I had the pleasure of photographing sweet Ava & Sophias newborn photoshoot and having them back in the studio to celebrate their First Birthday was so exciting!

The set was styled in a soft, dreamy palette with delicate pastel tones and a rainbow backdrop that felt just right for these two sunshine-filled sisters. Their pink buttercream cake sat front and center, perfectly sized for two sets of little hands and all the joyful mess that followed.

A twin cakesmash photoshoot always brings double the personality, and Ava and Sophia did not disappoint. One dove right in without hesitation, while the other took her time, curiously inspecting the frosting before giving it a taste. Their different reactions made the whole experience even sweeter to witness and it’s exactly this kind of dynamic that makes photographing twins so special.

We wrapped the session with a shared bubble bath… a favorite ending for so many of my one-year sessions. It gives babies a chance to wind down, splash a little, and sneak in a few more smiles while getting squeaky clean. And it gave us some of the most tender moments between the girls — little glances, tiny hand-holds, and even a sweet kiss that was the perfect ending!

Happy first birthday, Ava & Sophia. You brought so much light into the studio that day… and it was an honour to capture it all.
