Parkers First Birthday Simple Smash

Parker recently visited my Papakura studio for his first birthday cake smash, and his visits are always so special. Not only is he the son of my cousin, but this also marked his fourth photoshoot with me in just one year! From his beautiful newborn session to his 6 month milestone and then shining in my Christmas mini sessions, watching him grow has been such a joy.

For Parker’s first birthday cakesmash photoshoot, we kept things simple, focusing on just celebrating the delight Parker is. We went with a clean, minimalistic backdrop with a soft white background that allowed Parker’s adorable personality to shine. A small, delicate white cake with a simple white “1” candle stood as the centerpiece – but not for long!

Parker wasn’t too interested in diving into the cake itself. Instead, he found more joy in smashing it around with a wooden spoon. However, once the cake started making his hands and feet sticky, his excitement quickly faded. He wasn’t exactly thrilled by the mess and made a pretty swift exit!

As always, I absolutely enjoyed photographing Parker again, and his cake smash session did not disappoint. These simple, sweet moments perfectly highlight the joy of his first year. I’m so grateful to be the one capturing these milestones, and I can’t wait to see what his next photoshoot brings!
