I had the joy of photographing Karen, her husband, and their daughter during a relaxed outdoor maternity photoshoot at Cornwall Park in Auckland. Maternity sessions are best done between 32 and 36 weeks, and it was the perfect timing for Karen—just the right balance of that beautiful pregnancy glow and the comfort of still being able to move around easily.
We wandered through the park, where the dry grass shimmered under the summer sun, and found cool, shady spots to take a break from the heat. Karen’s daughter was a little shy at first, so we slowed down the session to let her get comfortable. It wasn’t long before we came across a group of sheep, which totally captivated her. Seeing her warm up and start to enjoy the shoot was such a highlight—it’s moments like these that really make a session memorable.
As much as I love capturing an outdoor maternity photoshoot at Cornwall Park, I also have a variety of stunning locations I can recommend around Auckland, so clients can choose what feels most special to them. Whether it’s a sunlit park, a beach, or a quiet garden, I’m always excited to explore new spots that help bring out the beauty and emotion of the moment.
A few weeks later, I had the pleasure of seeing this sweet family again at my newborn studio in Papakura. It was so wonderful to watch their journey from maternity to meeting their precious new baby. From the warmth of the outdoor session to the cozy, intimate atmosphere of the studio, capturing these moments for them has been such a rewarding experience.
