Artemis’ first birthday Princess Cakesmash was a vibrant, joyful celebration. Full of sparkle, laughter, and personality, it was the perfect way to mark such a big milestone. We held the session in my warm Papakura studio, filled with natural light and soft colour.
We began with family portraits. Artemis beamed from the very first moment. She giggled, cuddled with mum and dad, and gave me the sweetest expressions. These images capture such a special chapter — a whole year of love, growth, and memories.
Then we moved into the cakesmash. Artemis’ family have requested a Princess cakesmash, with a bold and magical twist. The set featured soft pinks, gold details, and whimsical touches. A golden carriage, castle backdrop, and balloons brought it all to life.
Artemis wore a little white tutu dress and a tiny tiara. She loved the dress but kept pulling the tiara off with a cheeky grin. Her cake was simple and white, sitting proudly in the centre of the setup. It didn’t stay pristine for long!
She dived right in. With both hands, she poked, squished, and tasted every part of the cake. Her face lit up with joy, and her enthusiasm made the whole session even more fun.
To finish, Artemis enjoyed a warm bubbly bath. She splashed, played, and laughed, just as excited as she was at the beginning. The bath is a great way to clean up, but it’s also a moment many babies love. Artemis was no exception.
Cakesmash sessions are never the same twice. Artemis reminded me just how much personality can shine through at this age. If your baby is turning one soon, a cakesmash is a fun and relaxed way to celebrate. I’d love to help bring your ideas to life — let’s start planning something special!
