Welcoming a newborn is such a special time! Capturing those early moments through photography creates memories that last long, even after those tiny features fade. Ayaan’s newborn photoshoot took place in my cozy Auckland Newborn studio in Papakura. At just a few days old, he was tiny, with a beautiful full head of dark hair!
For his session, we chose a soft, organic style with a lifestyle theme. We selected neutral cream tones and warm woollen rompers to keep the focus on Ayaan’s delicate features. This timeless approach highlighted all of his sweet details without distractions. The calm and peaceful environment of my Auckland newborn studio helped Ayaan settle into a deep, restful sleep. As a result, we were able to capture a beautiful variety of images.
The best time for a newborn photoshoot is between 7 and 20 days old. In the early days with your new baby, they are still in a deep sleep, making it easier to gently pose them. This is when we can capture those dreamy, curled-up shots we all love. For Ayaan’s session, we included a lovely mix of photos: him alone, tender moments with mum and dad, and family portraits together. This collection of images tells a complete story of love, connection, and joy during those precious early days of his life.
Ayaan slept peacefully for much of the session, giving us the perfect opportunity to capture those sweet, sleepy poses. His parents were gentle and loving with him, and their beautiful bond showed in every photo. It’s always such a joy and privilege to photograph new parents embracing their little one.
Newborn photography is more than just taking pictures. Most importantly, it’s about capturing the tiny details and soft expressions, whilst embracing the overwhelming love that fills the room during those first few weeks. Ayaan’s session is a perfect example of how simple, natural styling and a relaxed environment can create timeless newborn portraits.
I can’t wait to watch Ayaan grow and capture more milestones for his beautiful family!
